In the mid 1980’s, we discovered specialty coffee after being introduced to a small batch roaster on the East Coast. We realized that coffee could be more than a caffeinated cup of brown water. Drinking coffee could be more than a habit, but an experience.

After re-locating to Michigan, it was hard to find a freshly roasted cup of specialty coffee. We decided to take matters into our own hands and began roasting at home with a number of different mediums. We continued our education and apprenticeship of the art, by working with importers, roasters, and becoming members of the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA). Now we have taken small batch roasting to the next level and offer our product to you, the retail and wholesale customers.

Why Beanstro?

Just because a coffee is 100% Arabica does not make it a Specialty coffee.

Specialty coffee refers to the highest grade of raw Arabica coffee. This grade has no defects and has distinct uniformity and size. These coffees represent the top 10% of all Arabica coffees grown. We are constantly searching for the best tasting of the 10%.

Coffees from a single origin are not equal.

While two coffees may be grown in the same region, one may be cultivated or processed differently than the other. Like wine, coffee in a particular region may not be the same from year to year due to climate changes. We sample many coffees from a particular region to insure we are buying a great tasting coffee.

Beanstro Specialty Coffee guarantees a fresh roasted product. Roasted coffee will not sit upon our shelf waiting to fill orders. It is our mission to roast to order and ship immediately. Small batch roasting allows us to deliver a fresh product and roast to the customer’s taste.
